Our Boarding Program in Brief: St. John’s Northwestern Military Academy is primarily a boarding school for boys in grades 7 through 12. Each year, the Academy enrolls up to 350 young men from around the world who attend the school as boarding students. These students live two to a room in one of the Academy's three residence halls and are fully immersed in the St John’s Northwestern experience. Boarding cadets spend the entire academic year on campus with the exception of holiday breaks and open weekends explained further below. All boarding cadets are eligible to compete for the top leadership positions within the Academy's Corps of Cadets.

Daily Schedule: During a typical week, a boarding cadet's day begins at 6:00 a.m. with reveille and finishes at 10:00 p.m. following a mandatory two-hour study period. Days are filled with academic instruction, mandatory participation in sporting activities, leadership development and a time for spiritual reflection. There is free time built into each day as well.

Yearly Schedule: Instruction for the full academic year generally begins during the last week of August and finishes the first week of June. During each academic year, the Academy closes for one week during Thanksgiving, for approximately two weeks over the Christmas and New Year holidays, for another two weeks for a spring break, and for a long weekend during Easter. In addition, there are generally 14-15 open weekends where returning cadets are allowed to leave campus under appropriate supervision. First year cadets are allowed 7 open weekends.

Costs: Total cost for boarding cadets for the 2010-2011 academic year is $32,500. International cadet cost is $34,500. This includes full tuition, room and board (three meals/day), laundry service, haircuts, insurance, text books and computer access. There are also one time fees for:

Initial Uniforms and Supplies		$2,250

In addition, international students incur a one-time fee of $600 for orientation and administrative processing.
