Welcome From the President

St. John's Northwestern Military Academy is a uniquely wonderful place. You would certainly expect me as president of the Academy to say that. I am not just telling you that; however, it is true.

The 2010-2011 academic year marks my 29th year in independent military school education. St. John's Northwestern Military Academy affords me with my fourth military school opportunity and my third as the executive officer. Because of that experience, I have come to recognize the important characteristics of a quality program. As a parent of two who attended military school during their entire middle and secondary education careers, I believe I am particularly well-versed in understanding the dynamics and importance of family involvement in our schools.

You may have come to our Academy Web site for a particular reason. Possibly you are seeking a safer environment for your son than is now afforded to him in his present educational setting. If this is how you have come to us, then you have selected the right place. St. John's Northwestern will provide you with that comfort and security. Maybe you are seeking a more challenging set of circumstances academically as your son grows and matures. Again, you are at the right place. St. John's Northwestern will provide that challenge. It is possible that you have come to this site because your son is lost on the overwhelming treadmill of a large public high school. You should consider our small class size where the ratio is 1:12 teacher to student. It is possible that you are visiting us online because your son seeks an appointment to one of our service academies. Did you know that we can provide nominations to qualified students for that very purpose?

The rigor of our program can transform the lives of young men. Whether it is the participation in a program of spiritual and character development, the activity of being part of one of our 17 interscholastic sports teams, our "fully engaged" intramurals program, or being a member of our award winning Pipe Band or Marching Band, outstanding opportunities abound for cadets who are members of the Corps of Cadets at SJNMA.

Don't just take my word for it. Come visit us. Talk to our cadets and their parents. Meet with our faculty and staff. I believe you will be pleased that you did.

I am
