Physical Endurance
St. John's Northwestern Military Academy provides the structure and facilities for our boarding and day camp programs. Our dedicated camp staff is comprised of St. John's Northwestern Military Academy's faculty, staff, and cadets. They work together to make summer camp a safe, enjoyable, and rewarding experience while teaching your son respect, self-discipline, and responsibility.
Background
Upon arrival, campers are divided into groups and begin to compete against each other in all aspects of camp.
Due to the skillful efforts of our camp staff, individuals quickly evolve into highly energized and unified teams or platoons. Our campers experience the roles of both team player and leader giving them a better understanding of teamwork. Platoon scores in marksmanship, archery, paintball battles, rope bridge construction, fitness events, athletic games, and daily room inspections are tallied to determine the Best Platoon of Camp, an award given at the closing awards ceremony.
In addition, at the end of camp platoons undertake the Camp Challenge, a test of the team's ability to complete missions based on skills taught during camp.
Camp Director
LTC Jim Kebisek, U.S. Army (Ret.), is the Camp Director. In addition to his many active duty years of troop leading assignments from the platoon through battalion levels, LTC Kebisek has 15 years of experience as an instructor/mentor including four years as an assistant professor of military science at the Florida Institute of Technology and two years of instructor experience at the Army Engineer School at Ft. Belvoir, Virginia. In 1993, he joined St. John's Northwestern Military Academy as Senior Army Instructor, and is responsible for the Military Science Department, which trains St. John's Northwestern cadets in leadership, team building, communications, character development, citizenship and numerous high-adventure skills.
