Lieutenant Colonel Brian Castellani, U.S. Army (Ret.), enlisted as an infantryman in the Army National Guard in 1992 in order to fund a college education. The experience of his enlistment inspired him to further service and he joined the Reserve Officer Training Corps. He graduated and earned an active duty commission from Illinois State University in 1997. Over the next 20 years of service, he served at multiple levels ranging from platoon leader to division level CIO/G6. Along the way, he graduated from the Command and General Staff College (CGSC) and earned his MBA from Webster University. He retired on January 1, 2018, after nearly 26 years of service including over 10 years in Germany, the Republic of Korea, Iraq (two campaign stars), Afghanistan (two campaign stars), and Kuwait. He was awarded multiple commendations including the Bronze Star Medal, Parachutist Badge, and several Meritorious Service Medals.
Not content with retirement, he was hired to serve again as the special projects coordinator for SJNMA in May of 2018. He is inspired by the mission of creating the future leaders of the world.
