MSgt James Cieslewicz, USAF (Ret.), joined SJNMA in September 2015 as a resident faculty officer, responsible for the morale, discipline and welfare of cadets in his company. He is a 1988 graduate of the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee with a Bachelor of Science in criminal justice. He retired from the U.S. Air Force in May 2014, after nearly 29 years of service, to include 24 years of active duty. He served his career in the USAF Security Forces and was an honor graduate of Basic Military Training and the Security Police Academy, serving his last seven years as a shift supervisor.

After graduating from the USAF Non-Commissioned Officer Academy, he attended the instructor course, teaching other NCOs to develop their leadership skills. He later graduated from the USAF Senior NCO Academy. During his final eight years of service, he also held the position of Information Protection Officer for the 128th Air Refueling Wing, in Milwaukee. In this role, he was responsible for the management and training of the unit’s security managers. He reviewed all security clearance applications and advised the Wing Commander on all matters concerning the protection of classified information. From 2010-2012, he served as President, Wisconsin National Guard Enlisted Association. During his career, he deployed to various locations in support of major military operations and NATO exercises to include Saudi Arabia during the Persian Gulf War, Kosovo campaign, post 9/11 Operations, and Joint Task Force duty for the Olympic Games in Atlanta, Georgia, and the World Special Olympic Games in Anchorage, Alaska. His military decorations include the Meritorious Service Medal, Air Force Commendation Medal and Air Force Achievement Medal, among others.
