The Summer Advantage
Summer OPS (Opportunities for Personal Success) provides the St. John’s Northwestern Experience in five intensive weeks of learning and training. The program offers young men and women in grades 7-12 an opportunity to advance academically in the structured and supportive environment of our military boarding school. Summer faculty and staff will guide cadets toward the character traits and leadership skills they will need as adults. Summer cadets engage in each of the four pillars of the academy.
Our goal is to provide cadets with the best possible learning environment while supporting them as they achieve their goals. Cadets can:
- Earn additional credit by taking a new course
- Repeat a course for credit recovery
- Enjoy small class sizes
- Utilize structured evening study hours
Cadets experience the same successful military leadership training that is offered during the regular school year at St. John’s Northwestern. Daily military training instills structure, discipline and develops personal leadership skills. Students may earn rank and hold leadership positions within the program's military structure.
Cadets participate in an after school athletic activity Monday through Friday. Weekends have scheduled on-campus and off-campus activities.
Character & Service
All cadets attend chapel services during the week. This fellowship time serves to build community and to identify, promote and encourage the qualities that lead to personal success.
Summer program fees are as follows:
Day Cadets with weekend activities - $2,725
Additional fees may apply for specific course offerings. Refer to the course offerings for information.
Cadets who take classes of English or science during the summer academic program will need a computer.
